The following information is provided to help you during your medical travel.

1. MAKING A DECISION ABOUT YOUR TREATMENT
  • When you or a family member has a critical health issue, having the chance to get a second opinion from another doctor is crucial to have a thorough grasp of the issue. Our expert team is prepared to give you free information on the second medical opinion that they have obtained from our specialists. You only need to provide us with the necessary documents.
  • Our team will get in touch with our doctors once we get your medical records. They will get a second physician opinion on your diagnosis or course of therapy. When our specialists have evaluated your condition, you will be given a thorough medical second opinion report.
  • Knowing the cost of your trip before you decide to have a diagnostic or medical treatment abroad is always preferable. Our experts will let you know of the estimated general costs associated with your diagnosis and treatment. An all-inclusive package pricing may also be provided to you if you are receiving a certain type of treatment.
2. ARRANGING YOUR TRAVEL
  • Depending on your demands, our team will guide you through the visa application process and provide information.
  • Before traveling to Turkey for medical care, you may need to get a visa if you are from a nation that requires one. Among the Visa options, there is a “Medical Visa” option. If you wish to get a medical visa, please email the passport information for you and any accompanying individuals to our team.
  • Your appointments and travel plans should be made through our authorized personnel. If you are scheduling any additional medical or non-medical appointments during your stay, kindly let our team know in advance.
  • Please verify that your travel documents are still valid (the passport must be valid until at least 6 months from your entry into Türkiye. For example, if you arrive in January, the passport must be valid at least until June-July). AFNA is not in charge of giving you the paperwork you need for admission or leave.
  • Before making travel plans, please confirm the time zone differences.
  • There is always a chance that something else has to be examined and resolved consequently, which might lengthen your stay in Türkiye. Thus, please do not buy your travel tickets before confirming with our expert team.
  • You should get in touch with your airline if you require a wheelchair. You can use the complimentary wheelchair service provided by airlines.
  • To help us arrange transportation and accommodation for you and your companions, kindly share the flight information at least two days prior to your departure.
  • Please provide a copy of your passport before your departure since it is necessary to register every passenger’s passport and ID in the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ system.
  • Turkish Lira is the local currency in Türkiye if you wish to convert money after your arrival.
  • Please seek accommodation options closer to the hospital where you will receive treatment if you decide to make your own travel arrangements. It would be safer to check the location of your accommodation with our team because complimentary transfer service may not be available in some areas.
  • Please notify our team in advance if you will be accompanied by someone else during your trip so that we can make sure to arrange the transportation accordingly.
3. AFTER ARRIVAL
  • Please obtain a local phone number after traveling to Türkiye for treatment, or keep your international phone accessible, so that we may reach you while you stay in Türkiye.
  • It is crucial that you do not leave the airport building after your arrival until our personnel meet you at the airport building.
  • We have free transports from/to the airport, hotel, and hospital set up for you. Please be informed that there may be delays as a result of traffic or the distance between your accommodation and the hospital. To avoid any conflicts, kindly verify your transfer schedule in advance and let us know.
  • Please notify our team in advance if any of your traveling companions will be leaving on a different day than you so that we can try to arrange the transportation accordingly.
4. DURING TREATMENT
  • Please check in at the International Patients counter when you go to the hospital and ask for your interpreter.
  • You will have an interpreter with you for all consultations and screenings. Please be aware that due to the demands of other patients, the interpreter may not always be with you. Outside the hospital, our team and interpreters will not be able to assist. Please let us know beforehand in case you need assistance outside the hospital.
  • Transportation and interpretation services are free of charge. No tips or presents are permitted for our interpreters or transportation staff. Please do not give any tip or gift; instead, a warm “Thank You” would be greatly appreciated.
  • Please feel free to ask your doctor any questions you may have during the session. It can be more convenient if you prepare your questions in advance.
  • Please ask your interpreter regarding the requirements before and after the required tests, as well as the cost of the service, if your doctor requests a blood test, PET, CT, or other procedures.
  • Please be reminded that following the physical consultation, the opinion you received during the ONLINE consultations may vary. Following the consultation and/or the conclusion of the necessary tests and examinations, the doctor will present your official treatment plan.
  • Before leaving the hospital, please get in touch with your interpreter if there are any missing documents.
  • Please be aware that pathological investigations of biopsy samples can take anywhere between 10 days to 3 months, and the results of genetic tests are usually available within 1 to 3 months.
  • In an emergency, the doctor could start treatment while taking a preliminary diagnosis into account. Depending on the findings of pathological investigations and/or genetic studies, further treatment may need to be changed.
  • You or your companion are always free to decline the suggested course of action. In that case, you or your legal guardian shall accept all ensuing obligations and must sign the refusal form in order to be released from custody.
5. AFTER TREATMENT
  • Please let our officer know right away if you require a follow-up appointment so that your care and travel arrangements can be organized smoothly.
  • Following your treatment, you will be given a treatment file in English that you may add to your personal archive. About the documentation you requested following the treatment, our team will get in touch with you within the latest 24 hours. Also, if you can provide the test results to us through email, we would be happy to offer free online follow-up services.
  • Türkiye is a magnificent and distinctive touristic destination that is spread across two continents. Enjoy the wonderful attractions in Türkiye, learn about Turkish cuisine, see historical landmarks, and go shopping. You will also be updated about the major international events and exhibitions that are routinely taking place in Türkiye.
